How many approaches are there to the definition of communication?

 Based on the view that communication is every aspect of human life, there are two different perspectives on communication. The first approach deals with how the source and the receiver encode and decode the message. In this approach, effectiveness and accuracy are also of great importance in communication. From this perspective, communication is seen as a process by which one person influences the behavior or thoughts of another. If the effect is different or less than desired, it is argued that there is a communicative error and the processing stages of the communication process are examined to identify where the error occurs.

 The second approach sees communication as the creation and exchange of meanings. This approach looks at how messages or texts interact with people to create meaning. This, in turn, articulates the role of texts in people's culture. It is argued that misunderstandings are not evidence of communication errors; they arise from cultural differences between the source and the receiver. According to this approach, the study of communication is in a sense the study of culture and texts. The main method of study is semiotics (the science of symbols and meanings).

How is communication a phenomenon?  

Communication is a phenomenon that exists in all living things in the dimension of message exchange. However, communication should be considered as a human act. “Sensory sounds, screams, cries, cries, gestures, even simple pointing are subspecies of communication in a sense, which we can also see in species lower than humans.
